IDAHOT is again being celebrated at the University of Southern Queensland and the rainbow flags will fly proudly at USQ Toowoomba, USQ Springfield and USQ Ipswich to show the University’s support of the LGBTIQ community and the Ally Network.
From 12pm Wednesday, 17 May the celebrations will take place in the USQ Toowoomba Quad with live music, free food and fun activities preluding the official introduction of the new USQ Ally Network Champion, Professor Ken Udas and the launch of the USQ Library LGBTIQ safe space.
This year we are pleased that a number of community organisations who support the LGBTIQ community will also participate in IDAHOT at USQ, promoting their services and enjoying the celebrations.
The USQ Ally Network aims to provide a safe-zone and a visible support network for students and employees who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, intersex or queer. The Ally Network is conducting training sessions later in May for all USQ students and staff to become ‘Allies’ – acknowledging the importance of a community free from discrimination and harassment.
